Getting Rid Of Delusion Makes Us Wiser Than Getting Hold Of A Truth
I am constantly blown away by the false beliefs that people have about business success.Most of the delusional thinking is generated by people "buying in" to an agenda that is sold by the mass media.
Delusion # 1) There are people that want you to believe that the internet, in isolation, is a "cash cow". This is pure B.S.! Why do you think EBay, Amazon, Victorias Secret, and others promote their web presence on television, and other media? Because customers LIVE offline.
With all the cash, supermodels, and media exposure, Victorias Secret's web revenue AND catalog revenue COMBINED account for less than 3% of the companies sales. (Source: Limited Annual Report, 1995)
This means that if they were a WEB ONLY business, they would be leaving 97% of the sales OFF the ledgers!!!
If you are trying to create a web-only business, I assert you are DELUSIONAL, and leaving AT LEAST 97% of YOUR revenue OFF the table!!! Do you get it?
Delusion # 2) Direct mail doesnt work. More B.S.!!! I have a client that just invested only $100 to send postcards to his past clients. His ROI is initially 400%, and is actually approaching 2400%, in only one weeks time!!!
I still read my physical mail... don't you?
Delusion #3) You need more customers to make more profits. B.S.!!! One client, Fred Garnica, from Security America increased his sales by over 750%, by just giving his existing customers more attention!!!
